There are three Schools in West Bengal which were once set up by the Church Missionary Society for the spread of English education in this province.0urs is one of them. It was established first as an English School in 1834 by RevJ. weit brecht of the Church Missionary Society and patronised by the then Maharaj adhiraj Mahatab Chand Bahadur of Burdwan. Since the very inception the name of the Sehool‘is called the “Church Missionary Society’s High School”i.e.C.M.S. High School however, through different stages it was at last, upgraded to a Higher Secondary School (Multipurpose) in 1969. It was now one of the oldest and best known institutions of the state with a glorious record of producing a good number of Scholarship holders who are now well established in society. Though Sponsored by Government, now the institution is of the people, by the people and for the people.
With the introduction of new 10+2+3 stage Education, our school has been granted permission for opening the Higher Secondary Sector for +2 stage education conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education from July, 1976. Our School has been permitted to teach-three course of studies i e Arts, Commerce and Science.
